The Hysteria Project Hysteria is up and running.UPDATE: An entirely new levelling system has been written and installed. The game has moved in to the testing phases to find and work out bugs and inconsistencies with this new system. A few other features still need to be installed and tested. Once this is done, the game will move in to its final testing phases prior to opening to the public. For more information, or to find out how you can help with testing, visit the discussion board via the link on the right. The Aberku codebase has been up and running on one of my Linux servers since early November, 2003. The involved Creators are myself (Edhadeya) and Corwin. Fulk is not involved; he has relinquished control of the code. Over the last year, the code has undergone an enormous amount of change. Additional changes are made regularly with ideas being thrown in to the mix virtually non-stop. With direct control over the code, we have been able to implement things we never thought possible. Many nagging issues with the game have been resolved, most prominently game balance. Races and classes have been completely redesigned with an emphasis on closing the gap between the weakest and strongest race/class combinations. Armor count and damage totals have also been reworked to make acheiving maximum armor a more challenging endeavour. Each zone has been combed over and wearable items have been manually adjusted based on a very specific points scale to ensure a wide array of readily available armor types with varying enhancements to AC, mana hp and damage. The goal of The Hysteria Project is to take a once great game and fix the major flaws. Ultimately, we wish to make the game far more balanced than it ever has been, while adding more locations, quests, interactions and things to do, ranging from the mundane to the truly remarkable. The list of changes is much too great to list here, so I've provided links to the right, wherein I will attempt to document changes as they happen. It has been, as I've said, a few months since we began working with the code and I've not actually documented the changes as we've gone. I have tried to compile as concise a list of changes as I can, and will update with more as I remember, and as additional changes are made. The basic changes are simply listed, while the more in depth modifications I hope to have linked to sub-pages explaining them in a little more detail, for those who are interested. |
